September marks the beginning
of a very special time in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee.
It is in September that foliage of the local Tennessee
hills begin to change into brilliant harvest hues. If
you've ever seen a postcard or painting from the Smoky
Mountains, it's likely depicting a fall scene. When this
region of East Tennessee and North Carolina begins to
shift towards autumn colors there really is nothing else
like it anywhere in the world. The amazing diversity of
plant life in the Smoky Mountains ensures that a great
golden spectrum is visible each and every fall season.
Come and gaze on these vivid yellows, reds, oranges, golds,
and browns. This vista really is something you have to
experience in person to capture the fullness of the seasonal
beauty.
In addition to the attraction of the Great Smoky Mountains
National Park itself during this part of the year, local
Smoky Mountain cities like Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg and
Sevierville have plenty of festive events going on to
add recreational possibilities to your Smoky Mountain
