The Smoky Mountains region is best known
for the spectacular, eye-opening beauty of the Great Smoky
Mountains National Park. The stunning vistas offered up
by the Park keep tourists coming back to the Smokies,
and local Tennessee cities such as Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg,
year after year. But there’s much more than the
Great Smoky Mountains National Park that attracts people
to this part of East Tennessee and North Carolina. The
area also boasts a rich, exciting, and diverse cultural
community.
Every month of the year there are special events going
on in Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, Sevierville, Townsend,
Cherokee, and elsewhere. August is no exception. This
month plays host to arts and crafts celebrations, music
festivals, dramatic presentations, and more. The list
below touches on a few of the recreational highlights
going on in the Smoky Mountains in August. We hope this
list will help to make your next Smoky Mountain vacation
in one of our Tennessee cabins that much more memorable.
