Any time of year is a
good time to visit the Smoky Mountains region. Each season
offers up something exciting and unique to Tennessee visitors.
The fall is certainly no exception. In fact, the autumn
is perhaps the most celebrated time of all in the Smoky
Mountains. It’s during this time of year that the
local Tennessee and North Carolina hills are lit up like
fire. Year after year Smoky Mountain vacationers pour
into the area to see the magnificent vista in person.
November is a particularly exciting time in the Smokies.
Not only are the autumn colors blazing in all their glory
during this time of year, but local cities like Gatlinburg,
Pigeon Forge and Sevierville also jointly launch the Smoky
Mountain Winterfest festival. This event runs right through
February and features several million dazzling lights
and entertainment and live theme shows. So if you’re

Pigeon Forge, TN, Gatlinburg, TN, and Sevierville,
TN - Nov 1st - Feb 28th : Smoky Mountain Winterfest
This is a much celebrated Smoky Mountain event. During
this festival, Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg, and Sevierville
are lit up with a million dazzling lights. Special events
and live shows are also part of this season long festival.
Sevierville, TN - Nov 1st : Winterfest Music,
Lights and Magic Kick-off in Sevierville
Downtown Sevierville plays host to this exciting night
when the lights of Winterfest are lit for the first time.
This great family friendly event includes fireworks, Smoky
Mountain cuisine, and live local entertainment.
Gatlinburg, TN - Nov 1st - Dec 31st : Old Fashioned
Gatlinburg Hayrides
When the Smoky Mountains are lit up in golden hues at
the onset of the late fall season, there’s no better
way to enjoy the beautiful scene than onboard an old fashioned
Gatlinburg hayride. Traffic light #6 at the Mountain Mall
is the departure point for the rides that leave about

Gatlinburg, TN - Nov 2nd : Gatlinburg’s
16th Annual Winterfest Kick-off
This family friendly Winterfest event takes place in downtown
Gatlinburg- at Ripley's Aquarium of the Smokies Plaza
and River Road. Besides lights and live entertainment
this event is also famous for its giant chili cook off.

Pigeon Forge, TN - Nov 3rd – The 6th Annual
Pigeon Forge Winterfest Kick-off
This popular event marks Pigeon Forge’s celebration
of the beginning of the Smoky Mountains Winterfest season.
The festivities take place at Patriot Park and includes
more lights than you can count, exciting live entertainment,
and always flavorful Smoky Mountain cuisine.
Cherokee, NC - Nov 4th-6th : Cruise the Smokies
Rod Run
This annual event celebrates “hot rod culture”.
Every year a wide variety of muscle cars show up to take
part in the rod run which takes place at Barclay’s
Outlet Lot on the Cherokee Indian Reservation in Cherokee,
North Carolina.
Pigeon Forge, TN: November 4-30 : Winterfest
Trolley of Lights Tour
At any time of year Pigeon Forge’s Fun Time Trolley
is an entertaining attraction. The lights of Winterfest
make this ride even more thrilling. Rides leave from Patriot

Pigeon Forge, TN: Nov 5th - Dec 30th : Dollywood’s
Smoky Mountain Christmas Festival
In Pigeon Forge, Christmas celebrations are taken to another
level. Every year Dollywood’s Smoky Mountain Christmas
festival is an integral part of the festivities. Operating
days vary so call Dollywood for more information.
Pigeon Forge, TN - Nov 6th : The 14th Annual
Toys for Tots Ride
This event showcases thousands of motorcyclists and their
machines, riding in support of the Toys for Tots foundation.
This event starts at Smokies Stadium and kicks off at
noon. The participants ride from Smokies Stadium to Chilhowee
Park. To take part and offer your support of this important
cause bring a $10 donation or a new unwrapped toy.
Gatlinburg, TN: Nov 12th – 13th : Mountain Shapes
& Colors
This is a showcase for local artists and craftspeople
and includes a silent auction. Crafts and art on display
include handmade jewelry, paintings, hand thrown pottery,
woven baskets, and woodwork. This weekend long event takes
place at Nantahala Village.
Pigeon Forge, TN: Nov. 20th : Pigeon Forge Community
Chorus Concert
This entertaining musical event takes place at the Smoky
Mountain Jubilee Theater. The concert begins at 3 p.m.
Gatlinburg, TN: Nov 22nd -27th : Thanksgiving
Arts and Crafts Show
This event takes place at the Gatlinburg Convention Center
and is put on by the Great Smoky Arts & Crafts Community.
The event showcases the work of local Smoky Mountain artists
and craftspeople.
The variety of exciting Smoky Mountain events and festivities
makes November a perfect time to visit the Great Smoky
Mountains National Park and local Tennessee cities like
Pigeon Forge, Sevierville, Townsend and Gatlinburg. Its
one thing to see the Smoky Mountains lit up in shades
