When people usually think about making a Smoky Mountain getaway February is not often the time of year that first comes to mind. After all, it is with the colors of autumn that the Great Smoky Mountains National Park is most commonly portrayed in postcards and such. This is a three-fold celebration where the three Smoky Mountain cities of Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg, and Sevierville all take part in a celebration of light that makes the entire region surrounding the Great Smoky Mountains National Park sparkle with over 5 million brilliant lights. In addition to the dazzling light displays, the Winterfest festival also features special theatre events as well.

Pigeon Forge, TN : February 1st-15th : Winterfest Trolley Tour of Lights
There is no better way to take in the Winterfest spirit while enjoying all the sites and sounds of Pigeon Forge than from the back of a Funtime Trolley Station. Rides leave from the Funtime Trolley Station in Patriot Park. This ride is for groups only.

Pigeon Forge, TN : Feb 2nd - 4th : 15th Annual Smoky Mountains Storytelling Festival
This is a fun-filled, imaginative event where a wide variety of entertainers share their craft. Partaking in the event is cowboy poet Waddie Mitchell, champion liar Bil Lepp and Grammy winner David Holt. And that's just for starters. Many other entertainers are also involved with this event. The National Youth Storytelling Showcase is another fun aspect of this unique Smoky Mountains event.

Skiing and snowboarding competitions including slalom races, jumping, and an awards ceremony. Sevierville, TN : Feb 18th - 19th : The 18th Smoky Mountain Home Show
