While each and every
season of the year is a special one in the Smoky Mountains
of Tennessee, there are some seasons that stand out from
the rest. The Christmas season is one of those extra special
times of year in Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg, Sevierville
and the rest of the Smoky Mountains region. People in
Tennessee like to celebrate the Christmas season with
as much hoopla as possible. Places like the Christus Gardens
and Christmas Place offer Christmas celebrations on a
year-round basis. And things are kicked into a higher
gear during the festive month of December.
Beyond Christmas itself, the entire winter season is one
of celebration in the Smoky Mountains. The East Tennessee
towns of Sevierville, Pigeon Forge, and Gatlinburg offer
a joint Winterfest festival that runs from November on
into February. The Winterfest celebration features millions
of lights, live theater and music shows, weekend festivals,
and more. In addition, the Smoky Mountains Arts and Crafts
Community put on several special events throughout the
winter season. December's offering is the Gatlinburg Christmas
Arts & Crafts Show. Not to be outdone, Pigeon Forge has
plenty of December special events going as well, including
"Music for the Holidays" featuring Holiday-themed sets
and a rich mix of new and traditional seasonal tunes.
